Becoming a point of reference as a supplier of sustainable energy that fuels peoples’ lives
Since its foundation and the start of industrial production in the 1960s, the Saras Group has pursued a process of constant growth, internationalisation and transformation, accompanied by deep roots in Italy, especially in Sardinia.
NUMBERS
Today, Saras is one of the top companies in Italy in terms of turnover and the largest in Sardinia, as well as the second largest employer: 90% of the Saras workforce is based in Sardinia.
Saras, which has its registered office and tax residence on the island, pays € 456 million in taxes, making up 5% of the Regional Government’s budget.
INVESTMENTS
In a period of generalised slowdown of the economy, in both the public and private sector, we have invested more than € 2 billion in 12 years and have budgeted a further € 800 million of investments in 2018-21, mainly in safety, the environment and IT processes.
SARDINIA’S ECONOMY
We supply goods and services of about € 237 million to various economic sectors, 98% of which in the province of Cagliari. Adding up the direct and indirect components, our contribution to Sardinia’s economy exceeds € 470 million.
TERRITORY
The refinery at Sarroch has spurred the development of an ecosystem of small and medium-sized ancillary enterprises, which generate value and grow in synergy with Sarlux, by supplying it with high-tech goods and services and developing expertise they can also offer to other industrial companies.
We promote the social and cultural growth of our territory through projects in partnerships with associations and institutions, which reach about 2500 young people through sport and cultural activities. We have planned many initiatives for 2019 too, which we will present in our next news. Follow us…
