Businesses, universities and AIDIC join forces to support new graduates

The Saras Group, together with fellow Sardinian companies Ecotec and Fluorsid, has joined the ‘Merit Award 2020’ promoted by the Sardinia branch of AIDIC (Italian Association of Chemical Engineering). This initiative provides scholarships to the best bachelor graduates who have chosen to continue their studies at Cagliari University by enrolling in the Master’s Degree in Chemical and Biotechnological Process Engineering.

This year, the ceremony was held in remote mode, thanks to the collaboration of all the participants. The four winners of this year’s edition of the ‘Merit Awards’, Edoardo Bertolotti, Eleonora Brughitta, Lorenzo Agostino Cadinu and Emanuela Gamboni, each received a € 500 scholarship and a voucher for a professional internship in one of the leading industrial companies in the Cagliari area:  Sarlux, Fluorsid and Ecotec.

Course coordinator Massimiliano Grosso – Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Mechanical, Chemical and Materials Engineering – chaired the online session and thanked the representatives of Sarlux, Fluorsid and Ecotec for their proven engagement and support to the training of young students and the President of AIDIC Sardinia, Francesco Marini, for having launched this initiative aimed at strengthening the cooperation between companies and the university.

The Saras Group has long engaged with the University of Cagliari to promote continuing training. It is important to help young graduates become an active and integral part of the world of work and the community at large.

This is why Saras sponsors various initiatives that promote the training of specialists in the fields and techniques required by the new challenges of industry 4.0.

The Saras Group is one of the main European oil refining operators, and is also active in the electricity generation sector. Directly and through its subsidiaries, the Group sells and distributes petroleum products on national and international markets. In addition, the Group produces and sells electricity through its subsidiaries Sarlux Srl (IGCC plant) and Sardeolica Srl (wind farm). The Group also supplies industrial engineering and research services to the oil, energy and environmental sectors through its subsidiary Sartec Srl.
