Christmas dinner at the Caritas charity canteen with Saras workers
They peeled dozens of kilos of potatoes, chopped a great amount of onions, filled some 1,000 plates (first and second courses):
yes, again at Christmas 2017, the Saras workers registered with the company’s social club (CRAL)
worked for the guests of the Caritas Charity’s canteen in Cagliari.
And from now on, this initiative will be repeated for Easter lunch and on one Sunday per month
when the help of volunteers is needed.
On Sunday, 17 December, 42 engineers, technicians and staff of the industrial site of Sarroch
cooked and served meals to some 250 guests,
above all migrants, and they also prepared another 270 for those unable to reach the Canteen of viale Fra Ignazio
and are assisted at home by volunteers under the guidance of Don Marco Lai.
Cous-cous with vegetables, rice dressed with tomato sauce, pasta with tuna fish, ‘pasta e fagioli’ (pasta with dried beans),
and yet again roast lamb, beef stew, ‘panettone’ (Christmas cake), turkey ham, Sardinian sweets and pastries:
this is the menu thought up for guests, the majority of whom follow the Islamic faith,
also with an eye to the traditions of the Maghreb.
Shortly, the link between the Saras company club and Caritas will become even closer: workers will organise a fund-raiser
for the purchase of new kitchen equipment, thus making the volunteers’ work easier.
