Open day #digitalSaras
Towards the refinery of the future
Training safety, production optimisation, operational efficiency, research:
pilot project applications for the 4.0 refinery
Saras’ Industry 4.0 programme is entering its key stage with the launch of industrialisation
of certain pilot projects that the #digitalSaras team tested over the past few months.
The projects were presented on 12 October during the Open day
organised at the Industry 4.0 lab at the Sarroch site.

The meeting was attended by more than 50 students from Cagliari University,
Faculty of Chemical, Mechanic and Electronic Engineering
and from Applied Sciences Vocational High School “Giua”, also in Cagliari.
The future engineers heard the presentations and interviewed the members of the Digital team,
learning about how augumented reality and big data are transforming industrial production.
Information, i.e. data, is the driver of this change according to Giuseppe Citterio,
Planning and Development Director and head of the Digital project:
“The ability to analyse and exploit this data is the new asset of our times”.
Giuseppe Citterio, Planning and Development Director
Dario Scaffardi, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Saras concurred:
“Big data management and the application of the other technologies of Industry 4.0
will enable us to improve our processes at sustainable costs
and to remain one of the leading operators in refining”.
