Aritzo, Tonara, Monastir, Porto Torres, and many other towns in Sardinia. The youngsters of the Cagliari Football Academy flocked to the tiers of the Sant’Elia stadium on the days dedicated by the home team to the Academy, of which Saras is sole sponsor. Against Entella, but also during the recent victory over Pescara, these budding soccer champions brought to Cagliari all their energy, already demonstrated during training sessions. There are more than 30 amateur teams on the island affiliated to the Cagliari Football Academy, a technical and training project which today involves more than 1,000 children. Saras took on this project, as sole sponsor, to support the growth of youngsters through sport and its values of commitment, dedication, loyalty and team spirit.
Saras participates directly in the visits organised by the Football Academy team with its own professional expert – a psychologist from the Saras HR Department, expert in group dynamics, who assists the Cagliari FC psychologist in supporting team officials. The Cagliari FC team provides advice on how to resolve conflicts between young players, and suggestions on to how to handle the ambitions of adults and children with respect to the world’s best loved game. And obviously it allows coaches and trainers to absorb and replicate training methods and conduct standards on the field, which for these young players represent the first step in the direction of semi-professional status. During these meetings and the Saras Tourney held at Sant’Elia in the spring, the budding players are scrutinised by the Cagliari Calcio officials, hoping to spot some of tomorrow’s champions.
