“Saras for sport”, a prize for child and adult athletes
A competition between sports clubs to win the prize “Saras for sport”. This new project dedicated to the territory surrounding the Sarroch industrial site, organised with the Municipality, is addressed to players in all types of sports, from canoeing to cycling; this coastal town has some 700 athletes belonging to 20 clubs. Athletes and amateurs can compete for the prize based on results achieved during the 2015-2016 season. The award consists of a contribution of € 2,000 to be used for the purchase of sports equipment or to allow disadvantaged categories to participate in club activities.
To participate in the competition, clubs must fill in the application form and describe the goals achieved, results obtained by their athletes (either individually or as a team) in their disciplines or in terms of social inclusion. The form should be sent by e-mail to relazioni.esterne@saras.it not later than 31 October.
A committee will evaluate applications, based on results obtained by applicants in their sport of choice, but also on their social commitment and any actions undertaken for the benefit of the community. The winner will be the one with the highest score and will receive a € 2,000 voucher during a public ceremony, including representatives of the Municipality and the head of its sports department, Mirko Spiga.
By this initiative, Saras highlights its long-standing support for young people and sport, rewarding merit and commitment. Another community project launched by the Company is “Safe sport in Sarroch” which focuses on safety in sport and led to the supply of defibrillators to all the sports structures in the municipality. The equipment was handed over by two players of the Cagliari FC team on 22 October 2015, during an event with an audience of dozens of small athletes held in the Sarroch school gym.
