Solidarity at Christmas: the Saras workers’ club at the Caritas soup kitchen
A tradition going back 5 years: on the Sunday before Christmas, members of the Saras workers’ club prepare the meals at the Caritas soup kitchen in Viale Sant’Ignazio in Cagliari.
For the festive occasion, a rich menu was offered: seafood rice, pasta with meat sauce, vegetable couscous, mixed appetizers of cold cuts and cheese, roast lamb, roast chicken and potatoes, vegetables, fruit, and Christmas cake; more meals were also distributed to the many families in Cagliari assisted by Caritas.
The connection between the Saras Cral and Caritas is becoming stronger every year: ‘This has become a tradition for us every Christmas and Easter – the members of the Saras club said – it is our way of being close those in need’.
