Sport and the territory – the Ussi prize goes to the Saras Group
A prize to the Saras Group as main sponsor of the Football Academy project by the Cagliari FC. On 27 September, the Sardinian Group of Sports Journalists (Ussi) awarded the prize to the Company during an event to promote community-level sport held at Bosa. At the ceremony, in the presence of many leading sportspersons based in Sardinia, awards also went to the six Sardinian Olympic athletes, the President and the coach of Cagliari FC and some famous former football players who helped to win the championship of 1970.
In accepting the prize on behalf of the Group, Francesco Marini, Chairman of Group company Sarlux, remarked that the Academy was meant as a point of reference for children playing football, with coaches eager to stimulate personal growth as well as technical skills. And it was this aspect which prompted Saras to associate itself with the project.
The Football Academy is the most visible facet of a consolidated tradition, which includes social campaigns that go beyond sponsorships. In 2015, “Sport sicuro a Sarroch” (safe sport in Sarroch) involved dozens of sport practitioners in learning CPR and use of defibrillators, supplied to the town’s sports centres.
Lastly, on 21 September 2016 “Saras for sport“, was launched, a competition with a prize of € 2,000 to be spent in sports equipment for the athlete or team of Sarroch obtaining the best results in their respective sport. Another important requirement was being involved in charitable and/ social inclusion initiatives.
