The Saras Investor Relations Department talks about the Company to the young people of the Contamination Lab

The upcoming challenges in the world of refining and the strategies to remain in the forefront of competitiveness: these were the themes illustrated by the Head of Investor Relations at Saras, as a guest speaker with other Sardinian company managers at the Cagliari University Contamination Lab. In the audience were about a hundred university students chosen for their potential in entrepreneurship.

During the second day, focused on enterprises and their capacity to develop innovative solutions to face up to change, Massimo Vacca also replied to students’ questions on the world of energy.

The event, held at the University Campus of Monserrato on 11-12 and 13 July was part of the fourth edition of CLab UniCa, the University’s project offering extra-curricular activities for the promotion and development of business and innovation management skills.

The Contamination Lab has been set up to develop innovative projects put forward by students: it’s a place where ideas from many disciplines come together, where it’s possible to take on board the intuitions of others and combine them, turning them into something new. In the Boscolo Main Lecture Hall there were 110 young people, 68% undergraduates, students, 29% graduates and 4% PhD students.

Programme of CLab UniCa days – July 2016

Day one was dedicated to presentation of the training plan, while day two addressed initiatives for the development of business ideas, such as the strategies of the Saras Group. Day three was devoted to presentation of the research activities carried out by the University of Cagliari, again to provide stimuli and ideas.

Over the past few years, CLab UniCa has led to the creation of about 20 start-ups active in Italy in the fields of ICTs, tourism, boating, gamification, and food. These start-ups have received monetary prizes and national awards (StartCup, National Innovation Prize, GSVC, Facebook program) and raised more than € 500,000 from private investors. Recently, CLab UniCa was selected by the Ministry of Economic Development to represent Italy in Europe at the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.
