Working with young people to plan for the future

The right to education is a value that leads to cultural growth, development and well-being. It means giving everyone access to the tools to achieve their goals.

Creating sustainable value, promoting cultural growth and being rooted in the community as a reference point are essential values that the Saras Group has been pursuing with responsibility and care for over 50 years, creating a business model that champions social and environmental aspects in all its activities.

This is why Saras believes in and is committed to initiatives and projects that develop innovation and help young people, offering a range of projects to meet the schools’ requirements and to contribute to innovative and more effective teaching.

The Istituto Comprensivo of Sarroch and Villa San Pietro, the municipalities in which the Sarlux industrial site is located, is an attentive and active partner of the Group’s initiatives to promote the right to education.

As part of the “Saras for Schools” educational programme, the Group has, as it does every year, donated textbooks to around 120 pupils at the Istituto Comprensivo of Sarroch and Villa San Pietro. Recently, during the acute phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to the tablets provided in previous years, we supported the school by supplying new computers and printers for remote learning.

In line with sustainability and the circular economy, the books are given out on loan and handed over at the end of the year to incoming students, unless the syllabi require new editions.

The Group’s commitment to the right to education, which began in the early years of Saras’ presence in the area, has led to the creation of a chemical laboratory, sports facilities, the provision of defibrillators, and the organisation of seminars, workshops and financial literacy activities.

The school, thanks to the head teachers and the teaching staff, has always had a very positive response: a team that wins for its students.

With regard to the delivery of textbooks for the 2021-22 school year, they said:

The initiatives and activities with Saras fit in perfectly and are complementary to the activities we plan every year; thanks also to the great and constant commitment of the teachers, who take advantage of these very useful opportunities for our students.

The effectiveness of teaching is undoubtedly linked to the professional skills of the teachers, but it also requires tangible supports such as laboratories, textbooks, digital technologies in line with the times, sharing of experiences with external professionals, and, above all, the feeling of affinity, understanding and willingness that we have always perceived in the Group.
